Review 

Jesus left behind his –

• Omnipresence– He could only be in one place at a time 

• Omniscience – He didn’t know everything 

• Omnipotence – he didn’t have access to his divine power 

 We must empty ourselves of the illusion of control 

Aligned 

Jesus aligned his entire life to the will of the Father 

Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed.” 

John 5:19-20

“For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.” 

John 6:38

So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.” 

John 8:28

He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” 

Matthew 26:39 NLT

• Jesus was not given to disobeying the father. He didn’t cut down cherry trees unless the Father told him to do so. He didn’t topple outhouses into the creek unless the Father told him to do so.  

• There is an utter submission to what the Father wanted. 

Why was Jesus so obsessed with aligning his life to the will of the Father?  

• He didn’t know the full plan. 

• He wanted to show us the way through his teaching and his life. 

• The power of God is reserved for the will of the God. 

Challenge 

What is the will of God for our lives right now as a church? 

What is the will of God for your life personally? 

How do we know God’s will? 

• The Word 

• The Spirit 

• Circumstances 

• Counsel
