Action Required:
Circle the unique personality of each of your children and put their name next to it. Get on same page with your mate. Children circle the one you think best represents you. Have a conversation about this.
Circle the season of parenting you are in and have a conversation about a unified approach. Seek counsel from those ahead of you that you admire.
Going Deeper Discussion
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you."
Exodus 20:12
In this week’s message we talked about parenting throughout a persons development into adulthood.
Exodus 20:12 is directly from the 10 Commandments. It is the only one of the 10 with a promise. It contains a "so that." Why does God connect honoring your father and mother with prosperity and length of life?
What are the various aspects of "honoring your father and mother?" What does that look like as a child? What does that look like as an adult?
Does honoring equate to obedience all the time?
As an adult, if your parent Is advocating that you do something contrary to God's best for you, how do you continue to honor them?
