Explain in your own words the difference between The Greatest Commandment and The New Commandment. Which commandment is more life giving to you? Which one is harder to live out?
Galatians 5:22-23 gives us the most succinct list of what it means to become like Jesus. Which one is your greatest strength? Which one is the one you struggle the most with?

The Greatest Commandment
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.

The New Commandment
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 13:34-35
What is the difference?
The shift is from trying to love God as a command to learning to receive Christ’s love for us and then paying it forward to others.
Becoming Like Jesus
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son…
Romans 8:29
Love is a powerful agent that literally reshapes and renews our minds (Romans 12:2) to become like Jesus (Romans 8:29) so we can display the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22,23) for others to enjoy.
Sharing Jesus
“Greater love has no man than this than to lay down his life for his friends.”
John 15:13
Sharing Jesus is simply pouring out the love he deposited into us to others God has placed into my life.
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
