Going Deeper Discussion

1. Read Ephesians 6:4 out loud. What was your experience growing up as a child as it relates to this verse?

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:4

2. One of the keys to training up a child is to keep growing yourself. Of the ten biblical virtues below circle the one you feel is a strength for you and put a box around the one you struggle with the most. Do your best to explain why this is the case. Give examples.
Love Joy Peace Patience Faithfulness Gentleness Kindness Integrity Self-Control Hope Humility

3. Of the three ways people exasperate others, which one best describes your tendency?

a. Rider – Rides people too hard
b. Breaker – Overcommits, Breaks promises, weak on follow through
c. Avoider – Avoids conflict and taking care of things in a timely manner

4. Pastor Randy shared that good parenting deposits ten positive messages to one challenging message. What do you think of this ratio? What has been your experience?
