Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?
2 Corinthians 6:14-16a

Application

Action Required
Single:
Make your commitment now to guide who you give your heart to
“I will only date and marry a strong, proven, committed, follower of Jesus.”
Parents:
Monitor your children’s community as the hormones start to fly
“I will Pray for your children’s spouses now.”

2 Corinthians 6:14-16a
Looking at these verses through the lens of marriage:
Paul is making an extremely strong contrast between the Christ follower and the unbeliever.
"Yoked together" can mean either journeying tightly/bonded together or taking in a particular set of beliefs which could be described as a "yoke" of teaching.
Jesus says "I am the light of the world." Colossians 1:13-14 says, "For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." and 2 Cor. 11:14 "for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light."
In verse 15 Satan is referenced as "Belial' meaning "lawless, or worthess one" personified.
In 1 Corinthians 1:18 Paul writes "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing (unbelieving,) but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."
1. What are some obvious problems this presents in marriage between an unbeliever and believer?
2. What kind of conflict could this present towards raising children?
3. If intimacy at every level is a major component of marriage, what areas would be inaccessible between a believer and a nonbeliever?
