KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Thirteen Kansas City-area churches will hold a food and resource drive to provide relief to charities seeing an increased demand because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The event, which will be held Saturday, is called "What if the Church Blessed KC Resource Drive."

Organizers said people can drop off items ranging from food, laundry and cleaning supplies, as well as paper products and personal hygiene items.

"We're asking people to load up one resource or 50 resources. Put them in your trunk and they will just drive through," said Taylor Penrod with Overland Park Church. "Any of those locations will have volunteers. They grab them from the trunk and we'll handle the rest."

Penrod said the pandemic is causing an increased strain on charities helping people.
