ONE Featured on Life 88.5
When more than 150 KC-metro area churches linked arms to launch the ONE experience, another partner came alongside to give the movement a major boost.
Life 88.5 operates with the mission to “lead people to Christ and nurture believers in their spiritual growth through Christ-centered media.” That’s why, when station management heard about the city-wide ONE campaign, they knew immediately they wanted to become a media partner.
“One of the things that made us so excited about this movement is the way it is bringing churches together in a unified movement to build the Kingdom and spread the love of Christ,” said Melony McKaye, Life 88.5 Operations Director and Good Morning Show Co-host. “That is really exciting to us!”
The station kicked off the ONE KC radio partnership on February 16 with several on-air interviews with Pastor Randy Frazee and Worship Leader Mitch Langley during its high-visibility Good Morning Show with Melony and TJ. Frazee shared the heart and vision of the ONE initiative while Langley introduced the ONE music anthem, Jesus is our King on air.
“I was excited to see a song connected to the message and movement of ONE,” McKaye added. “Music is what we do every day, and we know that God can take a message through a melody, and songs can break down walls in a way that spoken words can’t. Songs can hit right at the heart of someone’s story.”
Indeed, it seems “Jesus is our King” has already done just that. One listener identified as “NS” wrote in on the Life 88.5 website under a post about the song: “Wow! Incredible song! Way to bring our city and nations together in such unprecedented times!”
“I don’t think we’ve ever lived in a time that we’ve needed the Church to be more united than ever,” McKaye added. “It’s my hope that this is the beginning point for change, with all of us coming together. Our call is the same – leading people to Christ and deepening their relationship with Him. This is absolutely our number one priority.”
To help accentuate the church unity aspect of ONE, Life 88.5 will run a special segments four times per day on Wednesdays during Lent (listen for them around 6:20 and 8:20 am and 3:20 and 6:20 pm). The segments will feature a partnering church, with a preview of the upcoming weekend. Pastor Alex Gilpin at Revive Church (Independence, Missouri) kicked things off. All the interviews will be shared on the Life 88.5 website, so you can go back and get caught up if you missed it!
