Resource Drive Report | COVID-19 Response
Friday, March 20, 2020, Westside Family Church hosted a resource drive benefiting our community partners, foster/adoption agency partners and school partners. With short notice, we didn’t know quite what to expect, but you helped us spread the word – fast!
Thanks to your help and generosity, Westside filled four pickup trucks and a cargo van with food and supplies! Not only that, but our teams immediately went to work making nearly 50 home deliveries to foster families caring for 150 local children. The remaining resources were sent to Avenue of Life, which serves approximately 400 Wyandotte County families (approximately 1,200 children) living at, or below, the poverty line. These agencies are critical links to serving food-insecure families and homeless children.
Jen Decker was on the team of people who worked tirelessly to deliver care boxes to foster families following Friday’s drive.
A huge thank you to KMBC News who also helped inform the greater community of this opportunity to help others.
We anticipate additional needs will arise in the coming days and weeks for these families and community partners. Stay connected through our Community Care • WFC Facebook group for more opportunities to meet the need in our community and beyond.
