Avenue of Life Serve Day | Community Impact

Westside Family Church community partner Avenue of Life fills a critical need in Kansas City, Kansas, helping at-risk families gain stability and remain self-sufficient. The onset of the pandemic stretched their resources in unprecedented ways, which meant the most critical needs were addressed first while other needs were put on hold.

This month, Westside families showed up to serve and care for the ministry.

“There are so many families in need,” stressed Cameron Erlanson, Avenue of Life Chief Operating Officer. “Serve days like this come as a huge blessing for us because volunteers are able to work on and complete projects we haven’t had the time for, allowing us to focus on meeting the needs of the families in our community.”

Approximately thirty-five Westside volunteers of all ages assembled more than three-hundred weekend food packs for families, created clothing packs for homeless men and women, trimmed trees, built garden beds, beautified the landscaping, and even installed cabinets!

If you missed this serve day, we have GREAT NEWS – your help is still needed! Whether you would like to serve or donate items, there is a place for you to help at Avenue of Life. Learn about ongoing volunteer opportunities at Avenue of Life by clicking here.
