Westside Family Festival

+ Fam Fest Volunteer

Serve our community in the biggest free party of the year. Volunteers will assist in creating a fun, safe and friendly atmosphere for our guests. Opportunities include helping with rides, maintaining a clean environment, refilling water bins and more.


First Impressions

+ Greeter

A smile, a word, and a touch can go a long way in creating a wow first impression for our guests. Come join our team and have the privilege of preparing people’s hearts for worship.

Days: Sundays on a weekly or biweekly basis
Times: 35 min (25 min before to 10 min after service starts) All service times available.

+ Parking

Parking Lot Attendants have the privilege of providing an efficient and organized plan to safely usher our guests in and out of the parking lot, providing a wow first and last impression of their experience at Westside Speedway.

Days: Sundays on a weekly or biweekly basis
Times: Either 30 minutes before or after service.

+ Usher/Offering Attendant

Ushers/Offering Attendants have the privilege of welcoming and seating guests and members of Westside and helping them feel comfortable and at home.

Days: Sundays on a weekly or biweekly basis
Times: approx. 40min (20 min before service until stream of guests slow ) All service times available.

+Brewer-Set Up & During Service Hospitality

This first shift of volunteers will be brewing the initial containers of coffee and iced tea, prepping the kitchen and helping with various setup tasks (i.e. place lids, sugar packets, creamers and napkins on counter, fill ice container, keep area tidy, etc). Enjoy conversation with those getting coffee until the next service begins. The second shift will make more coffee and restock supplies as needed. They will also enjoy conversation with those getting coffee between services.

Days: Sundays, 1st Shift - 7-8:15am & 2nd Shift - 9:15-10:30am

Times: 1 hr 15 min.

+Brewer-During Service Hospitality & Cleanup

Make coffe as needed. Enjoy conversation with those getting coffee. When the last service is over clean out coffee/tea containers, put lids, sugar packets, creamers and napkins in cabinet.

Family Ministry - Early Childhood

+ New Family Welcome & Room Guide

Serves by welcoming first-time families with check-in and tours of WFC.

Days: Sundays on a weekly basis.

Connects relationally with children in classroom and their families while leading children through activities that relate to the Bible story.

Serves in place of the regularly scheduled leader connecting relationally with children in the classroom while leading them in activities that relate to the Bible story.

Serves as the emcee; welcomes the children; leads transition to the Bible story and worship through the introductory skit.

Serves the ministry by preparing and organizing resources for Sunday services. Childcare is available on Thursday mornings with registration.

Serves by setting up ministry environments for Sunday services. Childcare is available on Thursday mornings with registration.

Family Ministry - Students

+ Stand-by Volunteer

This role is for the person who can't commit every week, but is glad to help out with different logistical needs for big events or unique times when extra support is needed. Examples: driving a car for transportation, cooking food for a special occasion, hall monitors for big events, set up and tear down for events, selling snacks at a retreat, camp small group leader, etc.

Days: As needed

Times: Varies depending on need

+ Service Project Coordinator

The service project coordinator is the liaison between the student ministry and our ministry partners. This role works with small group leaders to get students involved in service projects. Ministry partners include: KCRM (Kansas City Rescue Mission), Delmar Gardens, Hands to Heart, Avenue of Life, and more to come depending on you!

Days: Whatever days work for you. This can be once a month or weekly for a semester at a time.

Times: 1 -3 hrs; time varies

+ Small Group Leader

The small group leader functions as the small group’s youth pastor in the weekly outreach program. They meet with the same group every week and build relationships with the students to lead them towards Christ. The small group leader guides discussions, welcomes new guests, and serves as a mentor for the students. Small group leaders are encouraged to attend as many student ministry events as possible, as these events cannot happen without them.

Days: Sundays and/or Wednesdays

Times: 1-3 hours week

+ Start a Group

Facilitate a LifeGroup on a weekly basis for introductory period. It’s as simple as inviting a few friends to join you. We’ll guide you step by step. Hosts have a heart for welcoming people and can coordinate the group time.

Days: Weekly at the location and time of your choice.

Times: 2-3 hrs per week

+ LifeGroup Catalysts

LifeGroup Catalysts encourage, support, and challenge LifeGroup Mentors as they journey with their Hosts and GroupLeaders. They commit to an intentional relationship with LifeGroup Mentors in which they offer support in both practical LifeGroups situations and spiritual Next Steps.

LifeGroup Catalyst would be responsible for meeting with their assigned Mentors quarterly to connect and build relationships.

Training opportunities for Catalyst/Mentors will be conducted every other month @WFC to keep them informed and equipped.

+ LifeGroup Mentors

LifeGroup Mentors welcome and orient new Hosts through the hosting experience and then walk alongside them through their group-leading experience. They commit to an intentional relationship with Hosts/GroupLeaders in which they offer support in both practical LifeGroups situations and spiritual Next Steps.

LifeGroup Mentors would be responsible for reaching out to their assigned Mentees quarterly to connect and build relationships.

Training opportunities for Catalyst/Mentors will be conducted every other month @WFC to keep them informed and equipped.

+ LifeGroup Leaders

LifeGroup Leaders prepare for and lead a group at least every other week. They provide a comfortable and safe environment where group members connect with each other, learn biblical truths together, share personal struggles with each other, and pray for each other.

LifeGroup Leaders would be committed to leading their LifeGroups weekly as well as provide support through prayer.

+ Prayer Partners

A Prayer Partner is someone who is willing to spend an extra 15 minutes at the end of a service to listen to those who need an ear and/or pray with those who need lifted before the Father. Our goal is to take every prayer request/situation and turn it into a next step in their spiritual journey.

Foster Care & Adoption

+ Child Care Team

Our foster and adoptive parents get together for information, support and encouragement the first Thursday of each month September-May, while the parents meet we provide the children with an enriching opportunity to be with other kiddos in foster and adoptive families. We are in need of teens and adults who would commit to caring for and being with these kids monthly, infants through teens. This is a fantastic opportunity to come alongside families who care for these special kids!

Days: 1st Thursday of each month

Times: 2 hour training 9/19 then 2.5 hours once a month 5:30- 8 p.m.

+ Network 1.27 Meal Team

Our foster and adoptive parents get together for information, support and encouragement and dinner the first Thursday of each month September-May. We have a wonderful volunteer team that provides food each month so our families just have to show up. Please sign up to be contacted to meet these needs.

Days: 1st Thursday of each month (food drop off) and as needed


+ Network 1.27 Care Community

We don't want any foster or adoptive parents to "go it alone" instead we would love to train groups to wrap around these families. Find out more how your life group can serve.

+ Network 1.27 Christmas Project

Each year we collect gifts for thousands of children in foster care, foster families and social workers. We need your help creating the tree tags, organizing the gifts and preparing for distribution:

Days: Tree Assembly & Set up Friday, November 1st from 9-Noon Tree Tag Distribution, Sunday November 3rd - 1 hour shifts Collection Prep - Monday, November 2, 9 - Noon Sunday gift Collection - Sunday, November 10 & 17, 1 hour shifts Prep for distribution, Sunday evening November 17 from 5-9 p.m.


General Project Support

There are places to get plugged in for an hour or two during weekday mornings or for ‘on call’ special event support. We always need help with administrataive projects or special projects like cleaning storage areas. If you have a heart to serve but a schedule too crazy for weekly commitments, let us know! We’ll let you know of ad hoc opportunities that you can pick and choose as your schedule sees fit.

Production

+ Production Team Member

This person is responsible for running all lights, sound and video for services and events. There are a lot of great places to get plugged in to this amazing ‘behind the scenes’ team. Many of these positions require no prior experience and you will be taught all you need to know. If you are looking to serve but don’t know where to get involved, we may have just the place for you.

Days: Sunday morning

+ Pre-Production Team Member

This person is responsible for capturing video on Sunday and throughout the week at events, not just at the building. If you are are artsy, creative and techy...or any combination this might be just the role for you. If capturing video isn't your thing, we’re also looking for great video editors for all sorts of projects.

Online Campus

+ Slide Ruler

This is the hero who controls the interactive slides just below the video stream during the service and ensures that each slide gets pushed at the right time. Sometimes the Slide Ruler push the Live Prayer slide when he feels led to do so. Advanced Slide Rulers sometimes help the Chat Artist with welcoming people to the Online Campus and jump in the chat discussion.

+ Chat Artist

This person LOVES to talk and probably loved to pass notes in class!!! The Chat Artist’s superpower is the ability to see where a conversation is going and re-direct it to the topic at hand while creating a warm and welcoming vibe in the chat. More than just the gift of gab, the Chat Artist will say ‘hi’ to everyone no matter what their nickname is and post the answers to the sermon notes fill-ins. Experienced Chat Artists can take their abilities and publicly pray in the chat at times as well.

+ Prayer Ninja

This elite member of the team watches the chat, secretly praying for each person and the people you can’t see lurking (trying to decide if they will engage or not). Prayer Ninjas will encourage people to enter into Live Prayer where they can pray with them in the private chat area and bring them to Jesus.

+ Twitter Sniper

The superpower of ‘stirring it up’ is strong with this one!!! This ‘Holy Troller’ uses his personal Twitter account to search for the words ‘church’ during the service times and invites people who need Jesus but can’t/won’t go to church to experience Church Online, no matter how wasted they are!!! Jedi Snipers have perfected the art of personalizing each tweet to each need and are #hashtagmasters.

+ On-Camera Anchor Agent

Lights, Camera, ACTION! Are you ready for your close up? How about getting a jump start on your "15 minutes of fame" right here live at Westside Family Church every Sunday. You could be part of the team that greets and welcomes our online community from around the world. Encouraging them to invite others. Join us, be an anchor agent for Jesus!

+ Production Champion

Hey Champ! If your technical skillz have surpassed calling tech equipment gadgets, whatchamacallits, thingamabobs, or doohickeys have we got an AWESOME job for you. Each week we have the capability to make HUGE impacts through personal connections with our Westside Anywhere technology. We would love for you to get some hands on "play" with our cool camera gear and its companion software/apps. Come hook us up a WIN for Jesus with your tech savvy!

+ Master Emcee

Calling all social media moguls! If you love or just want to explore what a superpower using social media looks like .... you have arrived. Our 9:30 live online Sunday service streams to U Tube and a Facebook Live event. The master emcee is a host/hostess with the most-est! Get ready to rev up your posting because you will get to know and interact with hundreds of people located as close to you as your backyard or as far away as literally on the other side of the planet during the service. Make friends by providing them notes and insight to the message while giving them additional connective links.

+ Community GURU

Welcome to our neighborhood! This is the signature slogan of a community guru. Jesus knew no bounds when he encountered people. He experienced life along side them. Our Facebook community life groups provide just that, REAL connections. Physical locations, time zones, nor even seasons of life prevents the community guru from fostering relational closeness and growth. If one "size" doesn't fit all, build one that does!

Times: Guru provides regular communication, prayer, and online interactive posts with and for group members.


Design & Communication

+ Photographers

Stories are better with pictures! Pictures are better when professionals take them!

Days: Sunday Services 4/year. Westside Events. 2-3/year.

+ Program Folders

We have a group that comes in to fold ans stuff inserts into the programs for each Sunday. Very repetitive work, but this is a task we absolustely need you're help with, Sunday's cannot go on with out your help!

Days: Friday mornings, every week

+ Project Assistant

This is detail work–you'll want to know copy and paste keyboard shortcuts. We work in Basecamp, but we can train you if you're willing! Answering phone calls, so being familiar with the weekly happenings at Westside will be very important.

Days: Weekdays

Times: at least 10 hrs per week on site


IT Support

+ IT Support Specialist

If you are a techie and you enjoy helping people then you might be interested in serving as a Westside Volunteer IT Support Tech I or II. Wrap your IT skills around Westside’s day-to-day IT hardware and software working directly with staff at multiple campuses to solve technical problems or escalate cases as they arise.

Days: Now scheduling for daytime and after hours support. Flexible scheduling

+ IT Network Administration

Work closely with the IT Team to implement best-practices in Westside’s IT Environment. If you get WiFi, VoIP, RDP, Azure, VPN, QoS, UTM, IPsec, LAN, WAN, VLAN, PLAN (kidding, I made that last one up), this might be your calling to serve by managing and monitoring the networks and security across multiple Westside Campuses. If you’re a tech geek that enjoys laying out projects, communicating deadlines and setting up appointments, we’re looking to to immediately place a volunteer admin to assist in organizing the IT work at Westside.

We’re often looking for programmers to discuss miscellaneous tech projects at Westside. MS Azure, MS Teams, O365, PowerApps, MS Flow, Azure VDI projects available.

Worship Arts

+ Instrumentalists/Vocalists

The worship team serves the gathered church by leading people through song in spirit and truth. If you’re gifted vocally or instrumentally and feel the desire to serve the church with your gifts, we’re looking for you.

Days: Sundays as scheduled, and rehearsal

Times: 5 hrs minimum on weeks you are scheduled. Morning and evening services as scheduled.


Care

+ Funeral Meal Prep

Serves families by arriving early to gather the food and prepare to serve the family a meal.

+ Funeral Meal Serving

Making sure the food and supplies are full during their meal together. Replenishing drinks, food, condiments and whatever is needed for the family.

+ Funeral Meal Clean Up

Helping to clean up after the meal. This would include washing dishes and gathering up leftover food to send with the families.

+ Meal Trains
